Section 1: Installing the necessary drivers

Step 1. Disable Windows Drivers Signature Enforcement on your computer. This step is not mandatory but is recommended to ensure the drivers being installed properly. We have a detailed tutorial here.

Step 2. Extract the Xiaomi ADB Fastboot Driver zip file (miui-ADB-Driver-Installer-v1.4.3.zip) and install it on your computer. This step is necessary to install the ADB Fastboot system-wide. Make sure you install it on C:\adb\.

Step 3. Unlock the bootloader of your phone. Read the full guide on how to unlock the bootloader of MIUI phones here. Please be aware that the process requires you to reset your phone. All your data will be lost.

Step 4. Extract the Android Platform Tools zip file. You’ll get a new folder named “platform-tools“.

Section 2: Installing TWRP Recovery

Step 5. Enable the USB Debugging option on your phone. Basically, you enabled this if you followed our tutorial. However, it is better to double-check it.

Go to:

Settings >> System >> Developer Options >> enable the "USB Debugging" option.

Couldn’t find the Developer Options? Go to:

Settings >> System >> About phone >> Tap the Build Number several times >> congratulation you are a developer.

Step 6. Connect your Redmi Note 8 phone to the computer using its USB cable.

Step 7. Install TWRP Recovery. Follow the steps explained in our previous guide on how to install TWRP.

Step 9. Form the main menu, choose “Wipe” then “Format Data“. Proceed accordingly.

Do not enter Advanced Wipe and do not wipe anything other than formatting /data partition. Once done, go back to the main menu of TWRP.

Step 10. Copy the Xiaomi.eu ROM zip file to your phone. Assuming the phone is still connected to the computer, you can simply copy and paste it to your phone through the Windows Explorer.

Alternatively, you can put the Xiaomi.eu zip file inside the Platform Tools folder and issue this command in the command prompt window:

adb push xiaomi.eu_multi_HMNote8_V11.0.3.0.PCOCNXM_v11-9.zip /tmp/

Replace the file name accordingly.

Step 11. Choose “Install” in TWRP.

Step 12. Locate the Xiaomi.eu ROM zip file that you copied earlier. Tap on its file name to select it.

Step 14. Wait for the recovery to flash the ROM zip file. Once done, reboot your phone by going to “Reboot” then choose “System“.

  1. Hi, I have a few questions about this procedure.
First, is it the same with Redmi Note 8T that I own?
Secondly, will xiaomi.eu rom include stock miui call dialer that allows call recording?
And last but not least, will the phone otherwise function as normal? I mean won’t there be any issues with new updates and/or downloadable apps?

I’m considering this because I want my call recording that I had on Note 5 but I wanna make sure I won’t trash the phone.
    Thanks bud.
