Do you still got confused on how to get Resurrection Remix OS up and running on your Redmi Note 7 Pro? Well, we have wrapped up a nice simple guide on how to get it done.
As you may already know, Resurrection Remix is a custom Android ROM offering a super awesome combination of features available within LineageOS, SlimRoms, Omni and original Remix ROM.
Its developers have managed to achieve another level of perfection in terms of performance. They have taken the greatness of several base ROMs combining them together into one single effective ROM.
This article guides you to the right direction of successful flashing. It may be useful for you or may be not. Flashing-maniacs might find this tutorial not so useful.
Nevertheless, we believe that first-timers will find this article useful.
As usual, we highly encourage you to create backup before flashing anything on your Android phone. The process requires an unlocked bootloader. This means your phone will reset to factory settings.
We hold no responsibility of any damage that may happen to your device. No body forces you, remember that. Please proceed responsibly.
You will need:
- Windows computer either a PC or a Laptop. Windows 8/8.1/10 64-bit is recommended.
- A USB data cable. Make sure it’s a data cable and not a charging-only cable.
- Download Xiaomi ADB & Fastboot driver on your computer.
- Download Android Platform Tools r28.0.1 (zip).
- Download TWRP or Pitch Black TWRP (img).
- Download latest version of Magisk root (zip).
- Download Magisk Manager app (apk).
- Download Disable Force Encryption (zip).
- Download Resurrection Remix OS for Redmi Note 7 Pro (official build – zip).
- Download Redmi Note 7 Pro Firmware v10.2.8.0 (zip).
- Download GApps Patch (zip).
- Download OpenGapps Nano for Android 9.0 Pie ARM64 (zip).
How to Flash Resurrection Remix on Redmi Note 7 Pro
Step 1. Disable Windows Drivers Signature Enforcement on your computer. We have the detailed tutorial here.
Step 2. Extract Xiaomi ADB Fastboot Driver zip file (miui-ADB-Driver-Installer-v1.4.3.zip) and install it on your computer. This should finish in seconds. Make sure you install it on C:\adb\. This step is necessary to install ADB Fastboot system-wide.
Step 3. Extract the miui-platform-tools_r28.0.1-win.zip on your computer. You’ll get a folder called “platform-tools“. This step is important to make sure you use the latest version of ADB-Fastboot.
Step 4. Unlock the bootloader of your phone. Read the full guide on how to unlock MIUI bootloader officially here. Please be aware that the process requires you to reset your phone. All your data will be lost.
Step 7. Now turn off your phone completely. Once it’s off, press the Power button and Volume Up button simultaneously. This will reboot your phone to recovery mode entering either TWRP or PBRP.
Step 8. You may need to do “Swipe to allow system modification” action. If you haven’t done it yet.
Step 9. Form the main menu, choose “Wipe” then do the “Swipe to Factory Reset“. Proceed accordingly.
Step 10. Once done, you need to wipe /system and /dalvik. To do this, go back and choose “Wipe” then “Advanced wipe“.
Step 11. Select “System” and “Dalvik” then do the “Swipe to wipe” action.
Step 12. Finished? Now connect your phone to computer using its USB cable.
Step 13. Copy the downloaded Resurrection Remix ROM (zip), GApps (zip), Magisk (zip), Firmware (zip), and DM-Verity Disabler (zip) files to your phone. There are 2 ways to do it. You choose which one is the most easiest for you.
- Use USB data cable and transfer the zip file normally like you usually do through Windows Explorer.
- Or, use USB data cable and transfer the zip file through fastboot using command below:
adb push RR-P-v7.0.2-20190503-violet-official.zip /tmp/ adb push Magisk-v19.1.zip /tmp/ adb push Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_09.02.2018.zip /tmp/ adb push LineageFirmware-Violet-V10.2.8.0.zip /tmp/ adb push Mount_System_Violet.zip /tmp/ adb push open_gapps-arm64-9.0-nano-20190209.zip /tmp/
Replace RR-P-v7.0.2-20190503-violet-official.zip in the command above with the corresponding file name.
Step 14. Go back to main menu, choose “Install“, go to the /tmp/ folder, locate the firmware (LineageFirmware-Violet-V10.2.8.0.zip) file, tap on it to select it, then do the “Swipe to confirm flash” action.
Step 15. Once done, go back to main menu, choose “Install“, go to the /tmp/ folder, locate the Resurrection Remix OS (RR-P-v7.0.2-20190503-violet-official.zip) file, tap on it to select it, then do the “Swipe to confirm flash” action.
Step 16. Go back to the main menu, again. Now choose “Install“, go to the /tmp/ folder, locate the Google Apps (open_gapps-arm64-9.0-nano-20190209.zip) file, tap on it to select it, then do the “Swipe to confirm flash” action.
Step 17. Finished? Go back to the main menu, again. Now choose “Install“, go to the /tmp/ folder, locate the Google Apps Patch file (Mount_System_Violet.zip), tap on it to select it, then do the “Swipe to confirm flash” action.
Step 18. This is optional. Proceed only if you want root access. Go back to the main menu, again. Now choose “Install“, go to the /tmp/ folder, locate the Magisk file (Magisk-v19.1.zip), tap on it to select it, then do the “Swipe to confirm flash” action.
Step 19. Finally, the last thing you need to flash is DM-Verity Disabler. Go back to the main menu, again. Now choose “Install“, go to the /tmp/ folder, locate the DM-verity Disabler patch file (Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_09.02.2018.zip), tap on it to select it, then do the “Swipe to confirm flash” action.
Step 20. At last, you can now choose “Reboot” then choose “System“.
Initial booting time is usually longer than usual. It may take 5 to 10 minutes. This is normal since the system need to adjust few things into the device.
Voila! You have successfully flashed Resurrection Remix OS Android 9.0 Pie on Redmi Note 7 Pro.
