These are two builds of ported Gcam app compatible with Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 either China or Global variant (codename Lavender or Lavender_EEA). Download the APK files and install them on your phone.
Google Camera (gcam) is basically the official Android camera app for Google Pixel devices: Pixel 2, 2XL, Pixel 3, and 3XL. It becomes popular thanks to its advanced artificial intelligence.
The gcam app empowers Pixel devices and makes it one of the best mobile photography phones although it has only a single main camera.
Google Pixel devices have managed to compete with other mobile phones in terms of camera technology. While others rely on good sensors and more than camera sensors (and lenses), Google Pixel has only one main camera but it relies on its sophisticated software to process the photos.
Thanks to its earlier porters, BSG and Arnova8G2, who have managed to port gcam app. Hence, many users can enjoy its technology used on other Android devices.
The app has become so popular recently. There are more developers who have successfully ported the app based on BSG’s and Arnova’s works.
The only problem of ported gcam is its compatibility. There are so many versions and builds of gcam ports available. Some of them are made for specific devices while others made for any devices.
It is hard to find which build is compatible with a certain device.
The solution to this problem is no other than looking for what others have used and proven to work.
Here you can find two builds that proved to work on Redmi Note 7 (Reno 7) codename lavender. There is no perfect build that works flawlessly. However, we believe these two are versions with the best compatibility and minor bugs to use with Reno 7.
Reno 7 boasts Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 14 nm chipset powered with Octa-core CPUs (4×2.2 GHz Kryo 260 & 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 260) and Adreno 512 GPU.
It’s a beast priced at mid-range budget.
The best part of it is Android Camera2 API enabled by default.
Yup, you heard it right. It means you can simply use any gcam ports without having to unlock bootloader and no root needed.
The built-in MIUI camera app available within Reno 7 is good. It has manual control feature enabled. You can adjust shutter speed, ISO, and focus.
Nevertheless, the popularity of gcam is so tempting to try.

These are two builds of Gcam ports compatible with Redmi Note 7. Botha are ported by Arnova. The first build is ported from Pixel 2 device. It works just perfect but it has no Night Sight feature. The second build is ported from Pixel 3. It has Night Sight feature but you may expect some bugs. It may work not as flawless as the Pixel 2 port.
Gcam Pixel 2 Mod for Redmi Note 7
This version works out of the box. You don’t need any further configuration. Simply download the APK, install it, and use it.
Gcam Pixel 3 Mod for Redmi Note 7
The version below works even without further configuration. However, there is a suggested config that you may apply to avoid random force close. Thankfully, recent builds of the gcam app now support XML config importing.
Download the APK file below, install it, and use it. Alternatively, you can also apply the config file provided after the jump.
Download a ready-to-use gcam XML config file for Redmi Note 7:
Use this config file for Gcam v6.1 (Pixel 3 port).
How to use the config file?
Simply download the .xml file above to your phone. Next, move it to the /GCam/Configs/
. You may need to create that folder manually. Make sure the “GCam” folder is in the same root directory as DCIM.
How to create the Gcam Config folder? See how to create the folder here.
Now open the Google Camera app, double click the dark area around the capture button, select the config, and then click on “restore“. See the illustration below.

UPDATE: NO ADDITIONAL CONFIG
BSG, the most popular modder for Gcam ports, has managed to release a dedicated version of ported gcam made specifically for Redmi Note 7 (Lavender).
You can simply grab the APK file below and install it as usual on your phone. There are no further additional steps necessary for its configuration. However, this build is still undergoing for imperfection.
Recommended latest version:
BSG has rolled out the optimized version of Gcam for Xiaomi Redmi Note 7. It requires no additional configs as well. BSG is the popular early developer porting Gcam for public use.
As tested by Arunbiju969, this build works super awesome.

Enable the following settings:
- Show dirty lens warning: This feature will notify you when you wipe the lens if it is dirty.
- HDR+ Control: This enables HDR+ control (exit settings >> camera >> click HDR+ icon on top >> then choose HDR+ advanced).
- Set the JPEG quality to 100%.
- Set the HDR+ quality value to 15.
- Google Photos. The app allows you to work with additional photo functionality.
- Turn off the Focus tracking feature. This feature works only on stock Android. Using the gcam app on the official MIUI ROM with 4GB/64GB Redmi Note 7 will force close the app.

That’s it.
Our Verdict
While we love the default Mi Camera app, Google Camera (gcam) is still very tempting. It offers unbeatable HDR+ Enhanced mode, Portrait Mode, and the newly introduced Night Sight mode. Redmi Note 7 sports capable hardware to work with gcam. Using gcam as an alternative to MIUI Camera is worth to try.
