Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro has been available globally. The phone comes as the iteration of Redmi Note 5 Pro/Ai (Whyred). The phone sports Qualcomm MSM636 Snapdragon with Octa core processors (1.8 GHz, Quad core, Kryo 260 + 1.6 GHz, Quad core, Kryo 260). Just as the same as Whyred. The main noticeable difference is its notched display.
The popularity of Whyred is yet to be seen on Tulip. This is due to the upcoming release of Redmi Note 7. Some simply wait for the next iteration while a few has been so eager to hand on the Tulip.

What you will need?
These are recommended things you may want to have before attempting to root:
Steps to Root Redmi Note 6 Pro
Step 1. Please unlock the bootloader of your phone. The process is simple and easy. It costs you no money. Please read our previous guide on how to unlock MIUI bootloader.
Step 2. Flash a custom recovery. The easiest way is flashing the official TWRP. Follow our guide on how to flash TWRP using its auto-installer tool.
Step 3. Next, copy the downloaded Magisk .zip file and NO DM-Verity .zip file to the internal storage / SD Card of your phone.
Step 4. Now turn off your phone completely.
Step 5. While it’s off, press the Power button and Volume Up button all together simultaneously. This will bring your phone into TWRP recovery.
Step 6. Tap the “Install” button from the main menu.
Step 7. Locate the Magisk-v1x.zip file and select it.
Step 8. Now do the “Swipe to confirm flash“.
Step 9. Wait for the TWRP to do its job. This should finish in seconds.
Step 10. Once done, back to the main menu and select “Install” button again.
Step 11. Locate the “no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip” and select it by tapping on it.
Step 12. Again, do the “Swipe to confirm flash“.
Step 13. Once TWRP has finished its job, tap the “Reboot” button.
That’s all. Once your phone boots to system, it should’ve been rooted. You can notice a new app called Magisk Manager being installed. The app is necessary to manage (grant or deny) root access.
Magisk is far superior than SuperSU for several reasons:
- Its developer still actively maintain it.
- The root is systemless. Hence, users can hide the root status from apps that requires non rooted phones.
- It has many modules such as Camera2 API enabler.
Congratulation, you have finished the process of rooting Redmi Note 6 Pro.
You can also check the root status by installing the “Root Checker” app from Play Store.

Actually, there are other ported versions of TWRP recovery such as Red Wolf or Orange Fox. The official version, however, is well maintained rather than the ported one. Despite this fact, the ported builds have more advanced features to ease you with many process. We’ll cover that next time.
