Google Camera is a popular app that makes Google Pixel phone popular. It is the official flagship phone by Google, the one behind Android. Despite the latest Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have no dual camera setup, both devices are popular for its mobile photography support. Again, the high-end technology planted within its camera app beat all other Android phones with multiple cameras.
The power of the software spread fast. There are some developers who have managed to port the original Gcam app. They take the official Gcam app from Google Pixel, modify it, and share it for public use. Arnova, CStark, BSG, Arthur, and San1ty are just a few of developers who have succeed porting the app.
Thanks to their restless efforts, the popular Gcam app is now available for Android devices other than Pixel, including Redmi 5A.
Some believe that ported Gcam builds are compatible only on devices powered with high-end chipset. Well, that’s not true.
Redmi 5A sports Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 with 1.4GHz Quad Core Cortex-A53 CPUs. It’s a Qualcomm SoC after all and gcam can run on such chipset.

How to Install?
Installing ported gcam is just like installing any other third-party apps’ apk files. However, ported gcam app needs Camera2 API being enabled.
Android Camera2 is an API that gives third-party camera app developers better access to more advanced controls of the camera sensor, such as manual exposure (ISO, shutter speed), focus, RAW capture etc.
Google Camera has lot more advanced features and inevitably it needs access to Camera2 API.
Enabling Camera2 API doesn’t necessarily need root. However, unlocked bootloader is a must.
