The official TWRP recovery is already a cool custom recovery. It has many essential features by default. The recovery has also been installed on many Android devices, not just those made by Xiaomi.
The rapid development in Android communities helps this custom recovery get its hype. Even better, there have been some of ported TWRP builds available. These ported builds usually inherits the essential TWRP’s feature plus some advanced additional features. Some of those ported builds are Red Wolf recovery, Pitch Black recovery, and Orange Fox recovery.
One of our favorite feature is its ability to survive MIUI OTA Update. It means that you can still enjoy a custom recovery while still receiving OTA update. Hence, you no longer need to download the full MIUI ROM just to update.
