UPDATE: Mi Note 10 has also been released.
We have heard some rumors saying that Redmi Note 8 Pro is the last series of Redmi Note variants since the company will stop its future release. As a replacement, the company is readying the next successor of the Mi Note series.
We cannot confirm these rumors just yet. What we do know, Xiaomi has announced its first smartphone featuring a Penta camera setup. On top of that, the phone is also the company’s first phone sporting a massive 108MP camera.
Enter Mi CC9 Pro! The latest member of the Mi CC9 series. Xiaomi makes the Mi CC9 variants exclusive for China Mi fans. Those living outside China can have their global variants with the rebranded names of course.
Europe users can purchase the Mi 9 Lite which is actually the global variant of Mi CC9. Mi fans live in other parts of the world where Xiaomi exists can have Mi A3 which is the Android One version of Mi CC9e. Mi A3 receives good responses in India and Europe.
Now, what’s all about Mi 9CC Pro?
Today (November 5th, 2019), Xiaomi has announced Mi CC9 Pro in China in an event broadcasted on Xiaomi’s Weibo page. Coming with Mi CC9 Pro is Xiaomi Mi TV 5.
Mi CC9 Pro Specifications
Talking about specifications, it becomes more interesting if we start it from the most anticipated key feature. In the Mi CC9 Pro, that key specification is its Penta camera setup.
Such a kind of setup with 5 cameras on the rear side is the first for Xiaomi. There is no other Xiaomi phone ever released with a massive number of cameras.
Moreover, one of the cameras employs the Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX 108MP sensor. It is the industry’s first mobile image sensor that features 108 megapixels along with the smart-ISO and Tetracell technology. The sensor features over 100 million effective pixels sized 0.8um for each pixel. This sensor sits in the middle along with other cameras (in the third from the top).
The rest of the camera setup consists of:
- a dedicated 20MP Sony IMX350 wide-angle camera
- a dedicated 12MP Samsung S5K2L7 camera for portraits
- a dedicated macro sensor, and…
- a dedicated 5MP Omni VIsion OV08A10 telephoto camera.
Of course, the one with a 108MP sensor is the main camera. Physically, this camera has a large 1/1.33″ sensor which is perfect for low-light photography; thanks to the sensor size so it can capture more lights.
As with other Redmi and Mi phones featuring large Megapixels cameras, the Mi CC9 Pro’s 108MP camera is also capable of using Pixel binning technology. By combining all effective pixels together, the camera can produce a 27MP shot.
There are two variants of Mi CC9 Pro series: One with 7P lenses and its Premium Edition with 8P lenses. The “P” here stands for pieces.
Some of you may be wondering about the quality of its telephoto camera? Regardless of its 5MP sensor, it boasts Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) technology allowing you to capture still images steadily. On top of that, it can also do a mechanical zoom of 10 times larger. See it in action here.
The second interesting feature that most people asking is its horsepower. The Mi CC9 Pro is not a flagship phone neither an entry-level phone. It sits in the upper level of mid-class devices.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G is the main SoC empowering the device under the hood. Snapdragon 730G delivers Snapdragon Elite Gaming features and an additional 15% graphics boost over the original Snapdragon 730 series. Thanks to the Qualcomm AI Engine (Qualcomm Kryo 470 CPU), devices powered with this SoC can produce AI-powered photography.
Qualcomm Adreno 618 GPU also plays its roles in supporting the SoC with enough computing power to produce intuitive graphical effects in gaming.
The phone comes in different RAM and storage options: 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB. The highest option is the Premium Edition, obviously.
The massive 5,260 mAh battery that provides the phone with enough juice is backed up with the 30W fast-charging technology. This is said as a better alternative than the 40W one.
Charging Mi CC9 Pro (Mi Note 10) for 30 minutes results in 58% battery power. Considering its battery size and the dimension of the phone, Mi CC9 Pro is suitable to be called Mi Note 10.
Mi 9CC Pro is already available in China. Global users need to wait for the coming of Mi Note 10. The phone comes in three color variants: Black, Green, and White.
Price-wise, the prices of Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro variants are:
- CNY 2,799 (~$399/₹28,000/€359) for the 6GB + 128GB variant;
- CNY 3,099 (~$442/₹31,000/€397) for the 8GB + 128GB variant;
- CNY 3,499 (~$499/₹35,000/€448) for the 8GB + 256GB variant.
Some other features of Mi Note 10 (Mi CC9 Pro) include NFC, IR Blaster, and 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth, 6.47-inch OLED display, and it will be running MIUI 11 by default.
