Xiaomi has finally unleashed Mi 9, the latest flagship phone powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. The company officially announced the device in February 20th, 2019. You can read all Mi 9 specifications here.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi Mi 9 is still available in China. Users around the globe can either purchase the device from online retailers (such as Gearbest, Banggood, Alibaba, etc) or simply wait for the global version of Mi 9 arrives to respecting country officially.
The nearest schedule yet to be made is Xiaomi event in Spain (when this article is posted).
For you who simply too eager to hand on this device, buying from online retailers is the most possible option especially if the device has no schedule to enter your country yet.
However, MIUI devices bought from online retailers in China are running MIUI China Stable build. The only drawback is the absence of Google Play Store and all other Google Apps (gapps).
Hence, you have to install GApps independently. We’ll show you how easy it is.
How to Install Google Apps on Mi 9
Step 1. Download the MIUI Google Installer here. The APK file is very small. It won’t consume megabytes of data. Grab its latest version available.
Step 2. Launch the installer by tapping on its APK file. During the process, your phone may ask you to allow permission for installation from external sources. Just allow it.
Step 3. Tap on the big Install button and tap next, next, and next. The process will start consequently.
Step 4. Once the installation process is done, DO NOT PRESS OPEN.
Step 5. Now exit the app and open up the Security app.
Step 6. Tap on Manage >> Permission >> and find the “Google Contact Sync” app.
Step 7. Allow all available permissions.
Voila! You have installed Play Store on your Mi 9 phone effortlessly. Next, find all Google Apps from Play Store and install all you want including Gmail, Drive, Maps, Translate, Duo, Photos, Play Games, etc.
