Play Store for MIUI 8 & MIUI 9 China (Ready To Use)

Play Store for MIUI 8 & MIUI 9 China (Ready To Use) 1

This is the gapps package containing a ready-to-use Google Play Store. All gapps in this pack are compatible with Xiaomi phones running MIUI 8 and MIUI 9 China build. No root is required. You don’t need to unlock the bootloader as well.

This is not an APK file. Instead, it is a bundle that you need to install through MIUI’s default Backup and Restore feature. There is no complicated installation method.

The only limitation of this gapps package is its incompatibility with MIUI 10. Nevertheless, it works on any China MIUI 9 regardless which Android version it is (except Android 9 Pie).

Both MIUI 9 and MIUI 8 are built upon a specific version of Android OS. Depending on the type of your device, yours may still run Android 6.x Marshmellow. Most MIUI 9 buildsĀ are also based on Android 7.x Nougat. Few of its being on Android 8.x Oreo.

Hence, as long as the one running on your phone is not Android Pie, you can make use of this Google Apps package.

The most notable differences of MIUI China ROM are the missing Google Apps and Services in it. Moreover, it has limited languages but Chinese and English.

The package below contains all basic Gapps that you would normally see on a Global version of MIUI 9. Grab it from our mirror link below.

File name :
PlayStoreMIUIChina.zip
Version for miui8/9 | 1193 downloads | Size: 65 MB

How to install? You need to extract the zip file once downloaded. You can do this on either a computer or your phone directly. Again, this file is not APK and is not a flashable package for TWRP.

Check also: Mi Themer App.

Once extracted, copy the whole folder to your phone’s backup folder. Open up “Backup Restore” option, then restore the backup file.

The credit of this trick belongs to Jaasir, one of MIUI Beta Team.

The workaround has been tested to work on Redmi Note 5 China, Mi 5S, and Redmi 4X. However, it should also work on other Xiaomi phones.

Just make sure the phone has Android 6/7/8 but not Android 9.
